We use a Class IV laser. This is one of the strongest in laser therapy. For example. a Class I or II is the same type of laser used in CD players or grocery store scanners. Class IV is used primarily for medical use.
Every pet is different when it comes to the use of the therapy laser. Most of the time, it only takes 3-5 minutes on each area being lasered. For example, a German Shepard with hip dysplasia may need 5-6 minutes on 2 sections of the hips on both sides equaling about 20-25 minutes. To start, we would recommend a laser treatment three times a week for two weeks then taper off until down to once weekly then eventually until healed.
Some owners have noticed a difference within one to two treatments.
While there are NO side effects of the laser therapy, it is not to be used in pets with cancer or with metal implants, plates or pins.
