TLC Animal Hospital has been serving the Boca community since 1988. It was originally established by Dr. Ralph McGoveney, a graduate of Michigan State University. In February of 2004, Dr. McGoveney retired and Dr. Andrew Dooley took over the directorship of TLC Animal Hospital.
Andrew Dooley, DVM
Dr. Dooley is a graduate of Mississippi State University in 2001. He then worked under Dr. Ray Rudd, a Board Certified surgeon in Atlanta, Georgia until 2003 when he joined the South Florida Community. He was awarded the Best Vet award in City Link’s Best of Boca 2004 and continues to strive to maintain the high level of care and compassion instilled here at TLC established by his predecessor.
Sharon Browning, DVM
Dr. Sharon Browning is a graduate of The Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. She has given South Florida almost 3 decades of dedication. She established Academy Animal Hospital of Hillsboro and we were proud to have added her expertise and compassion to TLC in January of 2008.
Ayla Akbulut, DVM
Dr. Akbulut is originally from Massachusetts and did her undergraduate (pre-veterinary) studies at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After UMass, she graduated from Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2009 and completed a rotating internal medicine and surgery internship at Dogs & Cats Veterinary Referral & Emergency in Bowie, MD. After the internship, she stayed on board as part of the emergency staff at DCVR for an extra year and then headed down south to beautiful SE Florida to continue emergency medicine. Dr. Akbulut came on board at TLC as an associate clinician September 2012. Dr. Akbulut’s interests include (besides emergency medicine) feline medicine, anesthesia/analgesia, surgery and preventative medicine.
Victoria Tomasino, DVM
Dr. Victoria Tomasino, grew up in southern California and attended Murray State University in Kentucky for her undergraduate education. Dr. Tomasino then traveled to the small island of St. Kitts where she completed her pre-clinical training at Ross University. In 2014, she moved to the swamps of Gainesville and finished her clinical training at the University of Florida (GO GATORS!). Dr. Tomasino’s special interests include internal medicine, anesthesia and emergency medicine.
Rachael Siegel, DVM
Dr. Siegel is a Florida native and grew up in Boca Raton. She attended the University of Central Florida in Orlando for her undergraduate career. From there she traveled to the tropical island of St. Kitts where she completed her pre-clinical veterinary training at Ross University. In 2017, she moved to Baton Rouge to finish her clinical year at Louisiana State University. Dr. Siegel’s special interest include pain management, general health care and maintaining the human animal bond through care and compassion.
Rachel (Lande) Fellman, DVM
Dr. Rachel (Lande) Fellman was originally born in NY and then raised here in Boca Raton, Florida. A Pine Crest alum, she then received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, graduating cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry in 2008 and then obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UF in 2012.
Following graduation, Dr. Fellman completed a rotating internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Charlotte and then a surgery specialty internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego. During her time there, Dr. Fellman gained invaluable experience in the fields of surgery and critical care. Dr. Fellman served our community as an emergency veterinarian in Boynton Beach and then as the Chief of Staff of an animal hospital in Plantation. Dr. Fellman enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but holds a particular interest in surgery, emergency & critical care, dermatology as well as preventative care medicine.
Dr. Fellman lives in Boca Raton with her husband Robert, their 3 sons and 1 daughter. Dr. Fellman enjoys cheering on the Florida Gators, spending time with her family, traveling and figure skating.
Tanis Whyte, DVM
Dr. Whyte graduated magna cum laude from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Chemistry and minor in Biology in 1992, during which time she was also elected to the Dean’s list of Academic Distinction.
Dr. Whyte later graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1997 where she also received the “Award of the Auxiliary” to the AVMA (a scholarship nominated by her peers, based on the advancement and prestige of the College of Veterinary Medicine on the ISU campus). Dr. Whyte further received the Dr. Margaret W. Sloss Memorial scholarship which she was awarded for outstanding scholarship and contribution to the College of Veterinary Medicine and its students.
In her past, she spent 4 years at VCA Coast Animal Hospital and Cancer Center in Los Angeles; 5 years as an emergency clinician at Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists; and has several years participating in the rehabilitation of injured sea turtles at Gumbo Limbo.
Dr. Whyte is the dedicated vet for a non-profit dog rescue, Happy Tails Dog Rescue, located in Boynton Beach where she actively participates in the rescue and vetting of dogs scheduled for euthanasia and helps to rehabilitate them so they can be adopted into forever homes.
